Weight Loss the number one New Year’s Resolution in 2012
According to Emma Pritchard of dailyexaminer.com.au “Australian women listed weight loss as their number one new year’s resolution in 2011“.
She wrote an article featuring Hayley Lewis who is an Australian swimming champion, Olympic athlete and Commonwealth Games gold medalist.
She also expounded that Hayley Lewis has now joined with Kellogg’s to promote myspecialk.com.au, a personalised online weight management plan designed to help people stick to their ambition to lose weight in the new year.

A recent study by Kellogg’s revealed 49% of Australian women listed weight loss as their number one new year’s resolution in 2011.
And when asked what was needed to maintain their resolutions, the survey showed 77% of women said the right foods, 69% said a great exercise plan and another 47% said motivation.
“A lot of people recognize that they eat too many of the wrong foods too often, which is why weight loss is high on the agenda for many Australians when they write their new year’s resolutions lists,” Hayley said.
“I have struggled with weight for most of my life. The pressure of my career made me an emotional eater and during my time in the pool I had to deal with a lot of different things which strongly influenced my diet.
“Despite being an athlete and a swimmer, I was never a girl with a small frame and skinny legs, I knew I was bigger. People would see me on TV and when they met me a lot of them said ‘gosh you’re big’ and that affected the way I looked and thought about myself.
“I would exercise, but I’d eat more than what my body could burn off and after years of yo-yo dieting and trying weight loss fads I found the best way to manage my weight was to make a conscious decision to change the way I ate and improve my well-being.”
Hayley said the key to successful weight management was having a personal diet which fits into an individual lifestyle.
Hayley is now encouraging Clarence Valley residents planning to lose weight as their new year’s resolution to take action.
“A new year brings new hope which is why many of us write a new year’s resolution list – but the hardest thing is sticking to what we write,” she said.
